Postgraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship Terms and Conditions 2018/9

2018 Terms and Conditions will be published shortly

The Postgraduate Academic Excellence scholarship is available for students on PGT courses at Brunel and focuses on two key audiences, our high calibre prospective PG students and our alumni who wish to undertake further postgraduate study with us. It is available to all both Home, EU and Overseas fee paying students who have obtained a First Class Undergraduate degree.

The scholarship is a fee discount of 15% off the tuition fees for anyone who has obtained a first class undergraduate degree from a UK University, either in the UK or at an overseas campus or the equivalent of a UK first class degree from an EU institution.

We also offer a reduction in PG tuition fees for Brunel alumni. Brunel students who take up postgraduate education could be eligible to receive the '15% graduate discount' on top of this discount. These two discounts are not exclusive and therefore a Brunel alumnus who has a first class undergraduate degree can receive both fee reductions.

4. Allocation

4.1 Eligibility criteria are reviewed annually

4.2 Scholarships are awarded to those who meet the eligibility criteria at the time of allocation.   All decisions are final. The University will not accept any appeals in regards to allocation.

4.3 Scholarships will be awarded each year as follows, to all students meeting the eligibility criteria: from August for courses starting in September, from December for courses starting in January and from April for courses starting in May.

4.4 EU equivalency will be reviewed annually. Where no equivalent appears the Admissions Office will assess the course application and determine eligibility.

5.  Withdrawal of a Scholarship

5.2 Should a PGT student receive a fee discount and subsequently withdraw from the course or go into abeyance, the tuition fee will be reduced in line with the Student Financial Policy. The fee discount will be applied to the reduced tuition fee.

5.3 Fee reductions applied at the start of an academic year will not be amended once the fee has been processed. Any tuition fee liability remaining after fee reductions are applied will therefore be calculated in accordance with the Student Financial Policy.

5.4  Students who have changes to their statutory funding during the programme, such as late notification of NHS or National College for Teaching and Leadership funding, after this scholarship has been applied will have the scholarship withdrawn and discounted tuition fees will need to be repaid.

Any queries relating to these terms and conditions should be addressed to the Admissions Office by emailing: scholarships@brunel.ac.uk

Bachelor (Honours) degree -   generally 4 years of study, on transcript as level 4.  It is possible for advanced entry and to   start in level 2 so someone could have been there 3 years and have an Honours   degree.

The Irish degree is 4 years long so in Ireland level 1 = level 0 at Brunel,   level 2 = Brunel at 1, level 3 = Brunel at 2 and level 4 = Brunel at 3.  Successful completion of level 2 = Higher   Certificate, Successful completion of level 3 = Ordinary degree (pass / fail,   no classification), Successful completion of level 4 = Honours degree (same   classification system as England and directly comparable)

For postgrad entry we need the Honours degree not the Ordinary degree.  If certificate says (Hons) or has a 2.2,   2.1 or 1st you are fine, if in doubt transcripts look for 120 credits at   level 4.
