Scholarships, studentships and bursaries

In addition to the various tuition fee discounts we offer our postgraduate students, we offer the following Postgraduate Scholarships, prizes and further fee reductions.

In 2017 Brunel offered over 400 scholarships to Home and International students. A similar programme will be available in 2018, full details of our full scholarship package will be released shortly. 

Below you can find details of our January 2017/18 scholarships, which are still open and some of our 2018/19 scholarships.

Postgraduate Academic Excellence Scholarships

All those that meet the eligibility criteria

15% tuition fee discount, plus additional 15% if a Brunel Graduate

MBA Scholarship (full-time)

25 in total.

£6,420 tuition fee waiver

The MBA scholarship for January 2018 entry is now open. Submit an application by 18 December 2017 to be considered.

MBA Scholarship (part-time)

20 in total.

£8,560 tuition fee waiver for applicants from the Corporate sector and £10,700 tuition fee waiver for applicants from the Public sector.

Isambard Kingdom Brunel Scholarship

3 scholarships are available for  PGR courses only.

Full tuition fee waiver for the PhD, plus a stipend of approx. £16,621 per year for three years.

Submit an application by email to emma.sigsworth@brunel.ac.uk by 12 May 2017. The application should include your CV, 500 word research proposal, a cover letter and two academic references. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed.

Dedicated Country Merit Scholarships

Selected countries: Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Turkey, USA, Vietnam.

£2,000 or £6,000 depending on the country.

The Dedicated Country Merit Scholarship for September 2018 is not yet open.

Santander International Scholarship

£3, 000 tuition fee waiver for year 1.

Dean's Occupational Therapy and Dean's Physiotherapy (Physical Therapy)

Awarded to all International applicants that meet the eligibility criteria.

£3,000 tuition fee waiver per academic year.

International applicants will be invited to apply directly by the Admissions tutor and should provide a 500 word essay explaining why they would be an excellent ambassador for both Brunel and their chosen profession. The personal statement should be sent to the Admissions Tutor within 10 days of being invited to apply for the scholarship.

NSIRC PhD Scholarships in Structural Integrity

A stipend of £16,000 per year and tuition fees. Overseas applicants are welcome to apply, with total funding capped at £24,000 per year.

Brunel Graduate Discount

We have always offered a reduction in PG tuition fees for our alumni. Our students who take up postgraduate education could be eligible to receive the '15% graduate discount'. A Brunel alumnus who has a first class undergraduate degree can receive both fee reductions – Academic Excellence and Graduate discounts – a total of approx. 27.5% of the tuition fee.

The Graduate Discount will not apply if you receive the Brunel International scholarship, Brunel Santander International Scholarship or Brunel International Regional Scholarships. Please refer to the individual scholarship terms and conditions for further information.

International Scholarships

Brunel offer a number of International Scholarships designed to promote talent and encourage excellence in scholars coming to Brunel from around the globe. Partial scholarships are available to both undergraduate and postgraduate students who have been offered a place on a full-time course with us. Please refer to the International scholarship web pages for more details.

Doctoral research scholarships and studentships

Research scholarships may be available across the full range of our research activity. Please note that award numbers and amounts vary each year and in each School, and only a very small number – or none at all – may be available for your programme. Check the Research Degree funding web page for details and eligibility information.

PhD studentships may consist of a cash scholarship, payment of your tuition fees, a wage for teaching or a combination of the three. Funding for extra-curricular activities

Some funding opportunities exist for those students undertaking certain extra-curricular activities. These awards do not cover living costs or tuition fees, but are available to both taught and research students.

Sports Scholarship Programme

We have a history of supporting talented sportsmen and sportswomen that dates back to the 1960s. The Sports Scholarship Programme is more than just financial assistance; it is designed to the particular needs of athletes with outstanding sporting ability in higher education.

Music Awards

A number of Music Awards are awarded each year. Award Holders have all or part of the cost of their individual music tuition covered throughout their period of study with us.

External funding

The Kennedy Memorial Trust offers scholarships for British graduates wanting to study at Harvard University or the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The award offers full tuition fees, health insurance, a means tested tax free stipend of up to $26,000, contribution towards flights and more.
